Thought I should mention this

I'm friends-locking almost all of my posts lately, which is a shame 'cuz I had connected to a few new people because they just wandered by. So, if you want in, leave me a comment and I'll be glad to add you.

A friend of mine finds himself sans roommate for Oct 1st. Anyone wanna move to JP?

The details on the apartment:
2 bedroom, 3rd floor apartment.  The apartment is really cute and has some odd ceiling shapes, as it is in the top floor of the building.
The bathroom has been redone recently, and the apartment is in fairly good shape.  The landlord is having it de-leaded in September.
It is on Oakview Terrace in JP, just a little off of Centre street near the 7-11.
The apartment is available on 10/1.
Rent is $1300, which includes heat.  Other utilities (gas, electric, cable, internet) are extra.  Rent and utilities to be split.

If you know of anyone, lemme know, and I'll pass info along. Thanks!

hello out there?

To the person who commented anonymously to my June 20 post to introduce him/herself, I don't know who you are (cuz you were anonymous and all). Therefore, I can't give you a proper welcome. Comment again and let me know who you are this time. Now I'm curious!

Disney cross-post

A Disney cross-posting project with kev_bot and joezer. I'd explain it, but kev_bot has taken the lead on that, thorough man that he is. In fact, my contribution is already WAY behind schedule!

Reading on_reserve's ISO post, reminded me that I usually do something similar once a year.

Happy birthday, EVIE KAMOUZIS, wherever you are.

Are you a guy? Are you free on Saturday?

No, I'm not asking you out. I'm helping a friend (Robbie) round up volunteers for a NOMAS event. If you're not familiar with the organization, you should look into it. It's a great cause, and a great opportunity to show that you too believe that domestic violence against women is a men's issue as well. If I weren't in Maine on Saturday, I would help out in a heartbeat (and if I'd known about it earlier, I wouldn't be going to Maine). It's not a major commitment of time, but it's a great message to send. If you're free, I hope you'll contribute your time to a cause I consider to be very worthwhile. The official announcement is as follows:

Men Head Drive to Collect Necessities for Abused Women and Families
On Saturday, October 13th, the Boston chapter of the National Organization for Men Against Sexism (NOMAS-Boston) is working with members of the local community, including students from MIT and Harvard, to do a Supply Drive for two local battered women's shelters - HarborCOV (Harbor Communities Overcoming Violence), the only comprehensive domestic violence program serving Boston's harbor communities of Chelsea, East Boston, Winthrop, and Revere and the Elizabeth Stone House, a shelter in Jamaica Plain that recently experienced a devastating fire at their emergency shelter.

We need more men to come help out and make this the huge success that we think it can be!

We'll be standing outside stores in Porter Square asking customers to purchase a couple extra items to drop in the boxes by our table on their way out. We'll have a basket for cash donations along with information about the shelters at our table. At the end of day, we'll deliver all the donations and the boxes of supplies to the shelters.

Our goal for the day is to show that Domestic Violence is an issue that men should be concerned about and can work to end. People of all genders are welcome to join, but since we hope to show that this is a men's issue, if you are a woman planning to come, we encourage you to bring a guy with you.

To sign up, email Robbie at: robbie@nomasboston.org and let us know if you want to sign up for Shift 1: 10am-1:30pm, Shift 2: 1-4:30pm or help with transporting the supplies to the shelter at 4:30pm.
Thanks for your help and support,
Chad, Gordan, Jack, Matt and Robbie

P.S. If you can't join us at the Supply Drive and would like to make a donation, please click here and donate to Elizabeth Stone House directly.

LJ issues

Anyone have thoughts on why I can't see posts on my Friends page from before yesterday? The broadcast list I'm on is showing up--a few select posts from it--but that's it. This is tres frustrating.

Update: I realized that everything is there--I just have to go very var back to find it. That one broadcast list that shows up apparently started spewing random pieces of it's archive out sometime yesterday afternoon, which is why everything else became so buried. Mystery solved.

The real reason there is a nursing shortage...

...is because the people doing the hiring are morons. Seriously. If you'd like to know what I base this on, read bigredjed's journal. I'm sure the latest incident will be up there shortly.

If you or someone close to you is a hiring manager for a healthcare organization, feel free to set the record straight. But read bigredjed's journal first.
